Association of Japan with Pillar II of Horizon Europe Signed

The European Commission and Japan signed the association agreement for Pillar II of Horizon Europe on July 30, 2026.

Effective immediately, institutions from Japan can receive funding from within the clusters of Horizon Europe upon successful application, rather than from national funds as before. Additionally, they are now permitted to coordinate a project.

Results of the 12th IHI Call

The results of the 12th call of the Innovative Health Initiative (IHI) are now available. The call was single-stage with topics addressing the specific objectives of the IHI Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda. A total of 11 projects were selected for funding. Public consultation on Joint Undertakings (IHI & EDCTP3)

The European Commission is calling on researchers, industry, Member States/Associated Countries and the wider public to help shape the future of European Partnerships in research and innovation.

To support this process, the Commission has launched a public consultation on the future Single Basic Act (SBA) for Joint Undertakings e.g. IHI and EDCTP3 in the area of health, Article 185 initiatives and thematic priorities for the European Partnership portfolio under the next framework programme Horizon Europe 2028-2034. Open to everyone, the consultation aims to collect views and evidence on how Treaty-based partnerships can be strengthened to boost EU competitiveness, mobilise investment and support the full innovation-to-investment journey.

Have Your Say on the Future of Horizon Europe Joint Undertakings

The European Commission has launched a Call for Evidence on the future of European Partnerships implemented as Joint Undertakings under the next EU research and innovation framework programme. Stakeholders are invited to share their views on the future design, governance and impact of these partnerships as part of the Commission's impact assessment. 

Feedback is open until 14 July 2026.
