Leadership in Enabling and Industrial Technologies (LET)

Societal Challanges

The Leadership in Enabling and Industrial Technology (LET) programme focuses on areas of research and innovation with a strong industrial dimension and where mastering new technological opportunities will enable and drive innovation. Among others, some ICT KETs and tools will contribute directly to societal challenges. For example, ICT-KET integrated platforms include: low-cost, micro-nano-bio and bio-photonics systems developed for the healthcare and food sectors; mobile, low-cost, point-of-care bio- photonics devices for the screening of cardiovascular cancer and neurodegenerative diseases.

Fast Track to Innovation (FTI)

The Fast Track to Innovation (FTI) pilot is a fully-bottom-up measure in Horizon 2020 to promote close-to-the-market innovation activities, and open to all types of participants. It aims to reduce time from idea to market, stimulate the participation of first-time applicants to EU research funding, and increase private sector investment in research and innovation.

The FTI Pilot will be implemented in 2015 and 2016 with a total budget of €200 million (€100 million per year) across the Horizon 2020 priority “Societal Challenges” and the specific objective “Leadership in Enabling and Industrial Technologies (LEITs)”, without further topical restrictions.
