The European Commission is closely monitoring the ongoing Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda. The outbreak is caused by the Bundibugyo strain of the virus, for which no approved vaccine or specific treatment is currently available. While the risk to the general public in Europe remains very low, the EU, WHO, and international partners are coordinating preparedness, surveillance, and response efforts to contain the outbreak and support affected countries.
A new dashboard and accompanying report provide valuable insights into beneficiaries’ experiences with Horizon Europe's legal, financial, and administrative rules. The results offer useful lessons for both applicants and NCPs and may help shape future framework programmes.
The OrphaDev4Kids Project, an EU funded project to develop orphan medical devices, is developing a wearable multiplexed biosensor for cyanotic congenital heart disease (CCHD), under one of its work packages.
In order to develop the biosensor, they are launching 3 surveys to collect feedback from researchers, caregivers and patients.
The surveys are intended to collect insights ensuring that the device meets technical, usability, and clinical effectiveness requirements. The surveys for patients and caregivers are available in several languages. They take about 15-20 minutes.
The European Commission has launched a public consultation on Biotech Act II, a forthcoming initiative aimed at strengthening Europe's industrial biotechnology and biomanufacturing sectors. Stakeholders from research, industry, public authorities, and civil society are invited to contribute their views and help shape the future framework. The consultation is part of the Commission's preparation of a legislative proposal expected in 2026.
The European Commission has published new guidelines on the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence in research and innovation. The document provides practical recommendations for researchers, research organisations, and funders on the ethical, transparent, and trustworthy use of AI throughout the research lifecycle.
